Bangladesh Judicial Service Commission (BJSC) has recently introduced online application and e-recruitment platform for the future judges. With technical support from UNDP Bangladesh, this platform was launched by the Chief Justice of Bangladesh Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha.
All of the Appellate division judges of the Supreme Court along with the Attorney General for Bangladesh, senior officials from the Ministry of Law and the Country Director as well as Deputy Country Director of UNDP attended the launching program which was held on March 18, 2017.
As a major leap towards digitalization, ensuring transparency and improving accountability for the Bangladesh Judiciary, UNDP estimates that this online application and e-recruitment system will reduce 90% time in the application process, 60% cost for the applicants, 95% reduction in human labour and a staggering 65% increase in the total efficiency. This initiative was undertaken as a part of UNDP support to the BJSC in devising a 5-year strategic plan (2015-2020) with a costed work plan where Bangladesh Judicial Services Commission (BJSC) had set up its mission to emerge as a modern, impartial and trustworthy entity to recruit law graduates with intellectual ability, analytical skills and general proficiency.
This e-recruitment system is accessible through the revamped website of BJSC – http://www.bjsc.gov.bd. An e-library is also launched for BJSC to provide cutting edge information knowledge support to the judges.
