For the team of GIZ Rule of Law programme, they seek applications from suitable candidates for a position of “Project Officer – Justice Reform”.

Job Location: Dhaka (field visit expected)

Contract Duration: June 2018 (extension upon availability of fund)

Responsibilities:
The position holder is responsible for:

  • Providing necessary support to undertake various research initiatives on justice reform
  • Designing computer based data processing worksheet  and support to data collection, data processing and analysis on formal and informal justice system
  • Developing data collection tools, questionnaire, interview schedule etc.
  • Supporting the team with technical expertise for both qualitative and quantitative analysis of the data on criminal justice system
  • Providing necessary support to the smooth implementation of the project related to justice reform
  • Providing support to implementation of National Justice Audit
  • Maintaining proper documentation, report preparation and updating project information
  • Supporting to maintain regular coordination and communication with District Focal Persons (DFPs) / district level stakeholder
  • Providing other necessary support as required in collaboration

Core competency

  • Research – proven experience in research and data analysis. Should be sound in research methodology, data inputs, content analysis, tabulation, cross tabulation, computer based data worksheet preparation and quantitative analysis using computer based software like excel, SPSS, MS Access.
  • Reporting and Documentation – Proven ability in reporting and documentation both in Bengali and English. Should have proven experience on project reporting and event reporting both in Bengali and English.
  • Interpretation and translation – proven experience of translating law, policy and other relevant documents from Bangali to English and vice versa.
  • Computer skill – Excellent command on MS-Office (word, excel and power-point), and Bangla and English compose. Knowledge on SPSS software will be given preference.
  • Professionalism – a solid background in project work and ability to work autonomously, take initiatives and be pro-active. Should be conscientious and efficient in meeting commitments, observing deadlines and achieving results. Ability to timely deliver assigned task.
  • Communication – strong communication (spoken, written, presentational) and inter-personal and inter-cultural communication skills.
  • Team work – strong ability to work in a team and be supportive to others’ effort and work

Academic and Professional experience

  • Post-Graduation degree in any discipline of Social Sciences or Law
  • At least 3 years’ relevant professional experience in public or private sectors/NGO/ Development Cooperation
  • At least 3 years’ experience in research, content analysis, desk research with a strong background in quantitative analysis and reporting using computer based software.
  • Upload any research report, prepared individually or in group, can be academic or in popular form

Other knowledge, additional competences

  • Knowledge and understanding of the criminal justice system, village court, justice institutions, criminal law and procedure etc. will be treated as an asset
  • Working experience with international/bilateral organization will be an added advantage
  • Proven ability in self-organization, to work under pressure and deliver on time
  • Proven commitment to gender equality and disability
  • Good working knowledge of modern telecommunication system
  • Language- English, Bangla
