On the occasion of the World Oceans Day 2016, 2nd Marine Conservation and Blue Economy Symposium (MCBES) is going to be a research sharing and networking forum for students, conservationists, entrepreneurs, policy makers and ocean enthusiasts.
This years theme is ‘Bangladesh’s Ocean SDGs’. The UN Sustainable Development Goals target 14; ‘conservation and sustainable use of the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development’, is an excellent standard of accountability for Bangladesh’s quest for marine conservation and blue economy.
Now, Bangladesh needs to scrutinize the SDG targets for local adaptation, evaluate and reshape current policies and practices, and fill the research and policy gaps for effective marine conservation. To this end, marine conservation science must make sense to communities, businesses, practitioners and policy makers. To support this, the symposium is focusing on the theme ‘Bangladesh’s Ocean SDGs’ covers the following topics:
Conservation of Marine Megafauna
Marine Pollution and Invasive Aquatic Species
Marine Renewable Energy
Sustainable Marine Fisheries and Mariculture
Protecting Coastal and Marine Ecosystems
Restoration of Coastal and Marine Ecosystems
Artisanal rights of access and control over coastal and marine natural resources
Trans-boundary Cooperation for Marine Conservation and Blue Economy
