Department of Law, Canadian University of Bangladesh (CUB) launched the Law Clinic for the law students of CUB, and the certificate course on Mooting, Advocacy and Legal Research. The inauguration was held today at the CUB auditorium in the seminar on “The Constitutional Journey of Bangladesh: 45 Years and Onwards”, organized to reflect upon the issue on the eve of the Victory Day of our liberation struggle.

The program started with one minute silence paying homage to the Martyred Intellectuals. Prof. William H. Derrenger, Vice Chancellor (Acting), Canadian University of Bangladesh delivered a welcome speech at the event. Professor Dr. Sarkar Ali Akkas, Chairman & Dean, Faculty of Law, Jagannath University, Dhaka was the Chief Guest while Sk. Md. Noor Alam, Advocate, Supreme Court of Bangladesh and Ex-Vice President, Dhaka Bar Association was present as Special Guest.

Dr. Abdullah- Al- Monzur Hussain, Assistant Professor & Head, Department of Law chaired the discussion while Barrister Sayma Tahmin, Lecturer, Department of Law conducted the program. The speakers underscored the importance of learning and understanding the constitution and urged the students to go through the different amendments and provisions of the constitution of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. Mr. Shyikh Mahdi, Founder & CEO of The Future Law Initiative delivered a presentation on of Law Clinic and discussed the importance of clinical legal education in real life to the students.

Among others, Brig. Gen. Md. Asaduzzaman Subhani (Retd.), Registrar, Mr. Hanif Mahtab, Associate Professor of Business School and Proctor In-charge & Head of Career Service Wing, Dr. Akim M Rahman, Assistant Professor, School of Business, Dr. Nurul Islam Babul, Assistant Professor, Department of Film & Television, Faculties and officers of Canadian University of Bangladesh were also present in the program.
