Golam Faizullah Fahim, the alleged attacker of Madaripur teacher was killed  last night in a shootout with police in Madaripur Sadar upazila of Bangladesh, hours after the Court send him on police remand for interrogation in custody.

Earlier on Friday, Court granted a ten-day remand to Fahim for his alleged involvement in assassination attempt to a college teacher in Madaripur on Wednesday. Senior Judicial Magistrate Mohammad Saeedur Rahman passed the order as police sought 15 days remand.

On Wednesday, Ripon Chakrabarty, a teacher of Mathematics of the Nazimuddin Government University College of Madaripur,  cheated the assassination attempt with critical wounds on his head. Three assailants knocked the door of his residence in College Gate area in the town and attacked him with sharp weapons immediately after his opening the door.

Hearing the noise, residents in the neighborhood grabbed Fahim while others fled the scene after the incident, sub-inspector of Madaripur Model police station M Fayekuzzaman said. Later, the wounded teacher was taken to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital.
