University of Chittagong reigned supreme over 22 other teams by winning the champion trophy at the International Environmental Law Moot Court Competition, 2018, while Jahangir Nagar University became the Runners-up.
The moot competition, arguably the largest competition ever held in the country was organized by Eastern University in collaboration with SED Foundation, which took place at Eastern University on 13-14 July, 2018. Twenty participating universities along with two observer teams converged their analytical minds and legal skills on a complex issue of the legality of ocean fertilization.
The closing ceremony of the competition was held on 14th July 2018, which was graced by honorable Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed, Judge, High Court Division, Supreme Court of Bangladesh as the chief guest. Honorable Justice Jubayer Rahman Chowdhury, Judge, High Court Division, Supreme Court of Bangladesh was present as the special guest and Engr. Kh. Mesbah Uddin Ahmed, Chairman, Board of Trustees, and Professor Dr. Engr. Aminul Hoque, Vice Chancellor, Eastern University and Mohammad Javed Rasin, Founder and President of SED Foundation were also present as the guests of honor. The ceremony was chaired by Dr. M. Zahurul Haq, Dean, Faculty of Law, Eastern University.
